My boyfriend and I are going to an anime convention held at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel this September. The Renaissance Hotel is already full and we are looking for other hotels in the surrounding area. If you could please just provide a list of hotels close to the Renaissance Hotel, I would deeply appreciate it.

Q&A: Hotels in Melbourne – How far in advance to reserve?

Question by gnanow2007: Hotels in Melbourne – How far in advance to reserve?
I’m planning on attending the Australian Open (tennis) in 2010 and of course, would like to stay in a hotel near Melbourne Park. It’s still a bit early but I was wondering 1) which hotels are both reasonably priced and relatively close to the venue and 2) how far in advance I would have to reserve a room.

Book one year ahead…i tried doing this for Australian Open 2009 but i had to cancel last Sept. I booked the hotel in February 2008 and they gave me the season high price for this event which was Aud 120.Its a single private room. The B and B was somewhere in east melbourne. However some hotels/hostels dont give the price yet as early as Jan 2009 for the Tennis Open 2010. All you have to do is email and follow-up. If you want to save some money, you can book somewhere not in the CBD. City transport is very efficient in melbourne and you can also take the free tourist bus which takes off from Federation square and stops to all the major tourists attraction in melbourne. You can hop on and hop off for free!!

In Orlando can you use other hotels facilities or only the hotel you are staying in?

Question by KJLS: In Orlando can you use other hotels facilities or only the hotel you are staying in?
We are visiting Orlando in June and staying on International drive in one of the cheaper hotels. Is it acceptable to visit other nearby hotels and use their pools, restaurants etc? Or not?
It may seem cheeky but we have asked before on various holidays and they have usually welcomed us.

If you are staying at Disney World, you can use any of their pools and facilities. If you are staying in a regular hotel — no, I think it’s frowned on, in fact, most hotels would kick you out of their pools. The restaurants and spas might be open to the public.

Have fun!

Are there any hotels that rent rooms to minors?

Question by Maggie Taylor: Are there any hotels that rent rooms to minors?
My friend and I are planning to go on a senior trip this summer. Neither one of us will be 18 yet. Are there any hotels that will rent rooms to 17 year olds? Or could one of our parents call the hotel to make a reservation? Thanks for the help!

No, hotels are not going to rent to minors because they can not legally sign a contract and you have to do that to be liable for any damages done to the room. I can’t see a hotel being okay with your parents reserving the room. You may have better luck if they put the room on their credit card but even then it’s still sketchy.
